The Outer Continental Shelf Scientific Committee is a committee of the Minerals Management Advisory Board of the Minerals Management Service, U.S. Department of the Interior. Through the Minerals Management Advisory Board, the U.S. Department of the Interior receives comments and recommendations from coastal state officials. The Board also provides a forum for coastal states, federal agencies, and other public and private parties involved in development of the Outer Continental Shelf.

The Scientific Committee advises the Director of the Minerals Management Service on the feasibility, appropriateness, and scientific value of the Service's Environmental Studies Program, and the Outer Continental Shelf Sand and Gravel Program.
